Provides for the migration of data from the source data environment to the target Axiom data environment.

Data migration services vary significantly based upon the source and target storage subsystems, equipment locations, networked storage topology (NAS or SAN), and most importantly, the allowable downtime, if any, associated with each application in the project.

To ensure successful data migration, the service includes a Planning and Design phase, which
documents the requirements for customer in detail before beginning the actual migration.

• Analyze performance data on the LUNs presented on the host
• Identify where the data files, redo logs, archive logs, etc. reside
• Analysis on internal database statistics including data file utilization
• Parse information to determine Premium, High, Medium, and Low priority for Axiom target configuration and data migration, providing the best performance and lowest amount of disk contention

Work with customer to classify the existing data that’s moving to the Axiom (based upon desired IOPS and MB/s as well as hours of service).

This is needed to design the Performance Dynamics settings for the data and lends itself well to Regulatory Compliance – data classification assists with regulations mandating specific data permanence, retention, security, and disposal requirements.

This goes hand-in-hand with Data Classification services to determine data "value" strategies and policy-based management for data.

This also determines how to manage data to simplify migration of older, less accessed data from higher Performance Dynamics settings to lower Performance Dynamics settings.
